The Research Computing Center (RCC) is committed to fostering a wider understanding of high-performance computing. The RCC participates in numerous events designed to bring that understanding to the general public.

Mind Bytes (2014, 2015, 20172018, 2019, and 2021)

The annual Mind Bytes symposium showcases research done using RCC resources and invites the public in to learn about key issues related to high-performance computing.

Brain Awareness Week (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019)

Students from Chicago Public Schools spend half a day learning about how computation enables groundbreaking research in neuroscience.

Digital Archeology Day (2018)

Students from Chicago Public Schools spend half a day learning about how the field of archeology is becoming more digital, thanks to a partnership with the Oriental Institute.

VSCSE (2013, 2014)

RCC hosted the University of Chicago location for the Virtual School of Computational Science and Engineering (VSCSE) seminar, a multi-institution summer school dedicated to teaching attendees the skills they need to make better use of cutting-edge computational resources.
