Every year the Research Computing Center hosts more than thirty events in the data visualization lab at the Kathleen A. Zar Room as well as other spaces around the UChicago campus, including the Walk-In Lab in Regenstein 216.
Recurring events include the RCC's workshop series for UChicago faculty, students, and staff on a variety of computing topics. We also host special vendor workshops.
The RCC hosts its annual Brain Awareness Day event every March. At the most recent one in March 2018, the RCC invited over fifty local students to attend this interactive and exciting event. In April 2018, the RCC hosted a Visualization Hackathon. It was attended by over 40 participants who worked on visualization based topics. In May 2018, the RCC hosted a Deep Learning hackathon and its annual symposium and expo, Mind Bytes. In the fall, the RCC, in partnership with the Oriental Institute, invited more local students to learn about the impact of digital technologies on archeology.
In 2019, the RCC will continue with this by hosting another Brain Awareness Day event, more hackathons, and its fifth annual Mind Bytes.
